Meet Laura, our FIT4MOM Mom of the Month for December 2023!

Nestled in Oak Park since 2014, she, along with her husband Sean, who owns Smith Painting and Decorating, Inc., has created a cozy haven. Their two high schoolers, Josie (17) and almost-15 Marcie, attend Oak Park River Forest High School, making family life a bustling adventure.

Laura, a Senior Educator at the Museum of Science and Industry, passionately collaborates with educators citywide, fostering a love for science in young minds.

For Laura, motherhood is a journey of nurturing resilient, courageous, and compassionate individuals, destined to make a positive mark on the world. When not at FIT4MOM's Body Boost class—Melissa's infectious energy keeping spirits high—Laura unwinds at local favorites Hecho en Oak Park and Maya del Sol.

Her proudest moments? Bringing home Josie and Marcie from China in 2008 and 2010, marking the beginning of an incredible family story. And here's a surprising twist—Laura's not just a fitness enthusiast but a thoroughbred horse racing aficionado!
