Meet our instructor of the month: Christina McKittrick

  • Please meet our super amazing, dedicated, and solution maker, Christina. She is a rock to our community. When we need a location, she offers up Lively, when I need to be in two places at once, she offers to be at one of them for me. You’ll find her teaching on zoom Wednesday and Fridays at 5:30am, and will help coach run club when she can. Please meet this amazing instructor that does it all! So happy to have her on our team and part of our community!
  • Tell us a little about your family--who's in your crew and what stage of mom life are you in right now?
  • Our family is composed of myself and my husband Kevin. We are about to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. We have three wonderful children Mason (9), Cali (7), and Jojo (5). Mason is super into video games, soccer, swimming, and is learning to play the guitar. Cali is into soccer, basketball, swimming, softball, and hanging out with friends. Jojo just started kindergarten and is loving finally getting to be with the big kids (we are just happy to be done with daycare… iykyk). We also have a two year old rescue puppy named Bugsy who really has completed our family.
  • What do you love doing outside of teaching/working for FIT4MOM--work, hobbies, passions, anything that fills your cup?
  • Outside of FIT4MOM I am a science teacher and girls swim coach at OPRF. I am passionate about traveling abroad and I love taking OPRF students to Costa Rica every summer. I also own Lively Athletics and I have really loved learning a new mini carrier later in life. In the little free time I have I love to walk our dog, spend time with family in Michigan and Indiana, and read/watch mystery/fantasy books/shows.
  • Why did you join FIT4MOM?
  • Originally I joined FIT4MOM as a member of Run Club. I was looking to get back into running after having my three children and this seemed like the perfect safe space to show up. Then, I found out they had so many other fantastic classes and I was hooked. I love that you can show up in any part of motherhood and find your village/tribe/cheerleaders.
  • What's one thing you wish every mom knew about taking time for herself?
  • It is vital to fill your own cup before you can fill anyone else’s cup. You need to take time for yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally in order to be at your best and strongest. Also, you need to lift heavier weights than you think… you have to challenge yourself and be a little uncomfortable to truly grow.
  • What's your go to mom hack that actually saves your sanity?
  • I let my kids change into their clothes for the next day at night and wear them to bed (if they want). This way when they wake up in the morning they are already dressed for the day. Saves time in the morning and sometimes arguing over what to wear.
  • Tell us something fun or surprising about your family or mom life?
  • I am getting back into my tattoo era. I currently have 4 and I am planning on more. Let me know if you want to get a tattoo together!
